how to calm nerves playing poker?

ive just started playing limit texas holdem online at the start of this month and I have learnt and implemented a lot of it on the micro games id say id def know what an intermediate player would know. Thing is ive had a tonne of bad beats people chasing draws with terrible pot odds etc and beating me. I never have gotten nervous until this started happening because god knows what they have, even sitting with a full house i get nervous at the river when ive slow played it perfectly.

any tips for this?im guessing it will stop the more i win and my confidence goes up?ive started playing NL and it seems to be better.

Sounds like you’re ready for the big time.
Start playing with real money and that will make you treat the game more seriously and you’ll improve faster. Raid your bank account, college fund, piggy bank, and your moms purse if you have to. If you still need more money try petty theft and burglary then work your way up to armed robbery.
Just remember, you can just keep doubling down until you win it all back.
I see lots of guys going all in before the flop on every hand. They never have to worry about making decisions for the rest of the hand. That rocks.
    Go for it dude.

Take a break if you don’t have the correct mindset until you feel good enough that you can play to the best of your ability. Or you can drop down a level where the money means less to you so you are less worried about beats.

little gunshy, huh? the only thing you can and should worry about is that you’re getting your money in when you have the superior odds. there’s always going to be some dink that calls you down with a 6-2 offsuit, pulls out the hand, and thinks they made the right move.

what separates good players from bad is consistently having superior odds going in. as long as you have that, you’ll make money in the long run, despite a bad beat here and there.

What you haven’t really said is this: Are you making money??? Bad beats included.

If including the bad beats (which are ALWAYS going to happen) you are making money, then you are ready to move up from the micro limits. If you move up and start losing, then you’ll have to go back to the micro tables and make sure your winning is consistent. Make sure you win for at least a couple months in a row before you try moving up again.

You are either a profitable player or you’re not. If you are NOT making money at the micro tables month after month, then you do NOT know as much as you think. Read some books and keep practicing at the micros.
